Real Women

Let me start by pointing out the obvious; I am not a thin girl, nor have I ever been. So in my first blog ever, I'm going to tackle the age old battle of Skinny VS Fat. Seeing that I pointed out the obvious just a few sentences ago, I suppose you can assume what side I'll be taking. I just want to clarify that there will be no skinny people bashing in this blog, no sir! In fact, I admire skinny people, and I give you in-shape people mad props! I couldn't do it! But that's because I don't want to; I'm quite alright with what I've got. All of what I've got! The problem I see, however, is that most people (women/girls in particular) are not, and I think that's sad.

Speaking as a female, because yes, that's what I am, I know we've all had the thought "Oh she's tiny and cute!" about another girl when we're out and about at the mall or what have you. It's only natural for us to judge and compare ourselves. Probably, you've even thought, "Holy Mary what is THAT??!!" but I digress. I've got to honestly say that I never look at another female and think she's cute if she weighs less than 150 pounds. I just have a soft spot for my fellow fluffy ladies! Now, I'm not saying that I don't think Megan Fox is gorgeous, or that Cameron Diaz doesn't turn heads. That would make me a liar, and I, sir or madam, am no liar. What I am saying is this: how many girls like them do you see walking around in everyday life? How many girls do YOU know that look like this:
I'm going to go ahead and bet my mother's life that the answer is none, or at the least, very few. (It's a good thing I don't have a mother in case I lose that bet!) Really my point is the actresses, models, and music sensations of the day aren't realistic portrayals of REAL women. This leaves our young girls with unrealistic body image goals and feelings of inadequacy. I won't get into body image issues and self-esteem, or lack thereof, because that's not what my blog is about. What I wanted to get across was that I'm super tired of seeing women paraded in front of me who look like all they need is a double quarter pounder from McDonald's. Or maybe even two! Why can't I look at real women who have curves, and heaven forbid, some love handles?!

So to some up my rant:
Ladies go eat some cupcakes!
And gentlemen, get ready, because the Real Women are about to rock your socks!
